Dr. Fred van Lieburg is Professor of Protestant History at the VU University in Amsterdam and co-director of ReLiC, the VU Centre for Dutch Religious History. He is interested in the history of Protestant clergy, lay religion, oral tradition and other cultural topics. He wrote a lot of books in Dutch, including the handbook Nederlandse religiegeschiedenis (Dutch religious history) with Joris van Eijnatten (2005, second edition 2006). Other titles are Living for God. Eighteenth-Century Dutch Pietist Autobiography (2006) and Confessionalism and Pietism. Religious Reform in Early Modern Europe (edited volume, 2006).
